Biological treatment is the use of certain types of bacteria to overcome others and to degrade natural and man-made organic materials and chemicals. Bacteria are nature’s way of degrading these materials and keeping natural systems in balance – they are nature’s scavengers.

There are two main categories of Bio Treatments
Biological treatment of waste water is used to lower the organic load of solute organic compounds.

  • Aerobic treatment
  • Anaerobic treatment

The organic load is defined by the Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD) and Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD). In aerobic systems the water is aerated by agitation, cascades and other methods which introduce oxygen. Anaerobic systems run under oxygen free conditions.

A COD test can be done on site with analysis results in 2 hours giving Chemsol the potential to trouble shoot problems the same day.
